Our History

Built between 1833 and 1834, the hacienda was commissioned by Angelita Comas, the wife of a Spanish official, to establish a coffee plantation. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, Hacienda Juanita established itself as one of the region's leading coffee producers, contributing significantly to the local economy and to the international prestige of Puerto Rican coffee.
🌄 Transformation into a Parador (1976)With the decline of the coffee industry in the 1960s, the hacienda underwent a significant transformation. In 1976, with the support of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, it became one of the island's first inns. This change allowed the historic structure to be preserved and adapted to offer accommodations to visitors, keeping the essence of the place alive.

Today, Hacienda Juanita offers its guests a combination of history, nature, and hospitality. The property boasts approximately 23 acres of land, where guests can explore nature trails, waterfalls, and a rock pool. Additionally, the property grows fruits and vegetables, and raises small livestock, offering an authentic agritourism experience.
The Hacienda also preserves architectural and decorative elements from the period, such as native wood structures and antique objects, which transport visitors to times past.
Hacienda Juanita is not only a testament to Puerto Rico's coffee-growing history, but also an example of how to adapt and reinvent itself, offering visitors a unique experience that combines tradition and modern comfort.
